Individual Opportunities

Job Seekers

Volunteer Job-Seekers come twice a month to work with parents who need help with job search, resume, and cover letters. Volunteers help residents log on to a central job seeking database and apply directly to open positions. Training will be provided on how to use this website.

Children who are homeless are much more likely to struggle in school. Mary’s Place puts a special emphasis on providing additional support for the children in our shelter because we know that education is a ticket out of poverty for these students. We have a program that pairs volunteers with one student at a time so the children can have the help they need to work on their homework and improve their reading. Volunteers for Tutoring program must be 14 years or older. Reading Program volunteers must be 16 years or older. We ask volunteers to commit to coming once per week.

After-School Tutoring Program:  Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays 4-6 pm (September – May)
Summer Reading Program:  Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays 3:30-5:30pm (June – August)

As a dentist or oral surgeon, you have unique and special skills. No one else can fill YOUR gloves to meet this need. Please join us and discover what a difference YOU can make. You will change lives – yours as well as those of the people you serve. Whether you can commit to offering your dental services once a year or once a month anything would help out the needs of the poor.
